Mental health is about how we think, feel & behave. Whilst mental health problems are common most are mild, tend to be short term and can be treated. But – they all cause upset, concern, worry and can result in a huge amount of  lost time for the affected, their loved ones and their colleagues.

We offer courses to support individuals & organisations. We also offer a range of confidential counselling options to support individuals.

Whether work is causing the health issue or aggravating it, employers have a legal responsibility to help their employees. 15.4 million working days were lost to mental health issues in 2017/18, this equates to 57% of all working days lost to ill health in the UK.*

First Aid for Mental Health is the initial support provided to a person experiencing a mental health problem until professional help is received or the crisis is resolved.

On our courses you’ll learn how to recognise a range of mental health issues, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost someone to professional help.

What’s a CIC?

& why did we become one in 2021?

CIC stands for Community Interest Company – a type of social enterprise company. Typically they’re not for profits – the purpose of a CIC is to benefit a community. As a CIC we don’t have shareholders and we don’t pay dividends – any profit we make is put towards our social purpose.

We use any surplus we generate from the provision of commercial courses and product sales to run our Wellness Walks range of programs aimed at helping people to get out into nature to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

So if you book a course with us you know that as well as learning vital skills yourself you’re also helping us to help someone else – a win for everyone!

The purpose of MHNW has always been to do as much good as possible – so for us, a CIC combined with charitable activities is the perfect fit.

Wellness Walks explained

There are some things we simply know.

How often after a stressful day have you just felt the urge to go for a walk?

How often do you feel a deep instinctive need for ‘fresh air’?

How often have you simply wanted to be heard, really listened to?

Wellness Walks in the charitable arm of our organisation. We run a range of free and subsidised programs that facilitate people getting into the outdoors in a safe and supportive way. Whether its Walking & Talking with a trained counsellor or learning the skills to develop your own resilience on one of our purposeful endeavour sessions, we believe time spent engaged in nature will make you better.
