Wellness Walks secures funding for another two years!
We’re super pleased to be able to say our program of walks in West Cumbria hasn’t just secured funding for the next two years – we’re now able to expand it – we’ll be launching a new Wellness Walk program of events in the Workington/Whitehaven area early in the new year.
Our weekly walks in Millom and the super popular Big Day Out trips are all now safe for the foreseeable future – thanks to everyone who’s supported us this far!
Volunteer Walk Leaders
Our friends at UnLtd have shown great belief in our concept – and our desire to see more people in more places be able to access the benefits of Wellness Walks. Following on from our trial training program for volunteer Wellness Walk Leaders we’re shortly going to be putting a call out for people who’d like to train with us, gain experience with us & then be able to go on to run (fully supported by us) Wellness Walks for their community. If you think this might be you then feel free to get in touch & start a conversation.
Why it matters
There’s so much science now about how good being out in nature is for both our physical and especially our mental health. But so many people simply don’t have the opportunity to do so in a safe & supported way.
Wellness Walks changes all of that – and our feedback shows just what a difference that makes to folks lives – like this wonderful picture from Tarn Hows – two Wellness Walkers talking across generations, sharing knowledge & supporting each other.
Fundraising in 2023
We’re so grateful to everyone who’s donated to our efforts this year – it makes a real difference. In 2023 we’ll be launching our Wellness Walkers Supporters and Patrons Scheme – as well as a series of fun interactive fundraising events for you to get involved with.
We’ll also be asking our community of Wellness Walkers what they’d like to see us help them achieve. It’s the little bits of good that go to make up the real magic in the world.
